The Kringle South occurrence is located on northeast facing slopes overlooking the Adam River to the northeast and approximately 2.1 kilometres southwest of Keta Lake. The occurrence was discovered in 2006. The area has been previously explored in conjunction with the Adam West (MINFILE 092L 222) occurrence.

The area, on the east side of Vancouver Island, is underlain by gently to moderately dipping massive and amygdaloidal basalts of the Upper Triassic Karmutsen Formation (Vancouver Group). Interbedded with the basalts are minor limestone strata, 15 metres thick. The Adam River defines the contact between sediments and volcanic rocks to the west and the Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite to the east.

Locally, steep, north trending chlorite veins and smaller, more complex veins of feldspar, quartz, and epidote are hosted in gabbro. In 2006, sampling yielded values up to 0.49 grams per tonne gold, 3.1 grams per tonne silver, and 0.167 per cent copper. Sample KL098 returned 0.49 grams per tonne gold, 0.002 per cent copper, and less than 3 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 28327).

Work History

In 1991, West Pride Industries completed a program of geological mapping and geochemical (rock, silt, and soil) sampling on the area as the Boyes 1-5 claims of the Adam River property. During 2006 through 2013, M. Schau completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping, and rock sampling on the area as the Kringle South property. During 2018 through 2020, Altum Resource Corp. completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling, a 3.5 line-kilometre induced polarization survey, and a 361.0 line-kilometre airborne magnetometer survey on the area as the Adam West property.
